REMINDER! Meeting of Creative Minds

Just a reminder that we are opening the ReUse Center to creative minds. We’ve invited all creative minds to come out to the ReUse Center located at 3 Clearwater Road off Route 32 in New Paltz by the ballfields. We need your artistic imagination so we can create "recipes" for people wondering what to do with all of the stuff we’ve rescued! We will type up your ideas and post them by the materials you used so others can use them.

1) You can use anything in the ReUse Center. We have provided glue sticks, scissors, etc.

2) Please use boxes, bags, or cases of materials that are already opened so we don’t have lots of leftovers to cleanup.

3) NETWORK! This is a great opportunity to pick another creative mind for ideas and create resources for materials you need or would like to repurpose (i.e. packaging peanuts)

4) Write down your “recipe” for the art you have created. We will be sharing will everyone by posting it next to the materials you used.

5) Please supervise anyone under the age of eighteen, and be aware that New York State prohibits minors from using blades. This includes scalpels, box cutters and other sharp instruments.

Have fun. Looking forward to seeing all the ideas!

Dear Friends,

Hello and Happy New Year. What is the future of horizontal High Volume Hydraulic Fracturing (HVHF) in New York State? Also called fracking, this is a controversial form of drilling for shale gas where the potential risks to the air, water and public health far outweigh the benefits. Learn more at www.foodandwaterwatch.org/water/fracking which includes a comprehensive 150 second video at www.tinyurl.com/batakx3 .

The State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) has issued draft regulations that would allow fracking. This rulebook of proposed regulations is complicated, long and tedious and we, the public, have until January 11 to speak out against these rules.

YOUR ACTION: SUBMIT COMMENTS TO THE DEC BY JANUARY 11

www.30daysoffrackingregs.com where you will be guided to easily submit at least one comment online. (Link to any dates on the left side.)

The DEC is taking our public comments before a Health Impact Assessment (HIA) is carried out so the potential risks to air, water and public health are not addressed.

YOUR ACTION: COME TO THE GOVERNOR'S STATE OF THE STATE ADDRESS IN ALBANY
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 9 (11am to 3pm)

INDOORS in the concourse hallways by the entrance to the Egg (200-243 State Street)

Can you take the day off? Listed above are bus stops to invite others from all across the state!

Governor Cuomo has made no decision yet on whether to permit or prohibit fracking in our state. He said he wants the decision to be based on science and not on emotion!

YOUR ACTION: CALL GOVERNOR CUOMO AT 518-474-8390 AND/OR POST ON HIS FACEBOOK PAGE

and leave the message that....These current regulations are inadequate. No amount of regulation and oversight can protect the air, water and public health. Only a ban will protect us!

There are many uninformed and mis-informed state residents who do not understand the detrimental and dire effects of this form of toxic drilling. Can you get this info to them?

YOUR ACTION: HELP INFORM OTHERS ACROSS THE STATE

**excellent web sites include www.nyagainstfracking.org and www.frackaction.com
** www.dear-governor-cuomo.com is a 70 minute documentary with amazing music.
Look for state-wide shows at facebook.com/DearGovernorCuomo?ref=ts&fref=ts

FULL DISCLOSURE: I have read scientific studies and stories from communities where fracking has been allowed. It can NOT be done safely. Rosalyn Cherry, New Paltz, N.Y. For any questions on actions listed above please email rosalyn@clutterkit.com .

BOTTOM LINE: NO AMOUNT OF REGULATION CAN UNDO THE TOXIC AND RADIOACTIVE WASTE WATER THAT IS A BY-PRODUCT EVERY TIME A WELL IS FRACKED. SOME OF THE WASTE WATER STAYS UNDERGROUND AND SOME COMES BACK UP TO THE SURFACE!
